I built a Kurt Hughes 30' cruising cat in the 90's and launched it before it was finished to get my foot in the door of a new limited king crab fishery. Plan was after the season to pull it out and finish it out, as it was just the shell basically at this point. My partner was going to buy me out and I was going to proceed to build a KHSD 36' cruising cat. But a 300' barge got loose in the small boat harbor and smashed it 1 month after that launch, and it has sat for some 20 plus years. Now retired - I have time but not much money. I've started the repair and fitting out, as my old partner didn't feel he would be able to do the repairs. The whole story is documented on my flickr account here:
